"Brutal and soulful... Spirytus has endless potential!"
- Laz Pina, Ill Niño
Originally formed in late 2004, Spirytus are a groove metal band from Nottingham with an aggressive funk edge.
Favouring the dirty, dripping tones from seven string guitars; pounding - funk inspired bass lines; pile driving drums; and a mixture of soulful and bone crushing vocals, Spirytus set out to deliver something a little bit extra than your average metal band.
They have been described as full speed car crash between Faith No More and Korn, sprinkled with Rage Against the Machine and a few surprises in there for good measure, with their stage show being just as entertaining, aggressive, energetic and downright funky as their music.
Spirytus released their self titled debut album at the end of 2010. Their single "Bullet Ride" was featured on the cover CD for Metal Hammer of Up and Coming bands to watch out for and has been played on Radio Stations all across the country.
Spirytus have played at notable venues such as the Nottingham Capital FM Arena, Nottingham Rock City, 100 Club on Oxford Street, London’s 229 Club, Purple Turtle in Camden and Bradford Rio to name a just few.
In June 2010, 2011 and 2012 Spirytus were invited to play at the Hard Rock Hell Road Trip in Ibiza. They played alongside Skindred, Panic Cell, Breed 77, Wolf, Evile and more. 2012 saw them headline the Friday night.
In the past Spirytus have been inundated with praise for their stage show and 2011 also saw them open for Ill Nino at 2 of their UK shows as well as at the Kick Out The Jams festival and Hammerfest, where they headlined the Fresh Blood Stage. 2012 saw them grace the stage again at Hammerfest for a second year running after they beat over 1000 bands at Highway to Hell competition to one of 12 winning slots to appear at Hammerfest. Guitarist Alistair Bell joined the ranks in April 2011 and DJ Danny Jones in December 2012 taking their sound to new depths. 2013 sees therelease of their much anticipated second album.
And in 2104 Spriytus wil be on stage at Alt-Fest pounding out the grooves for you!
