Thomas Rainer created his musical project Nachtmahr in 2007. Over the past 11 years, the Austrian artist achieved worldwide success withL Ame Immortelle and Siechtum, and here he returns to his roots: the boiling dancefloors of industrial and goth clubs alike.
Inspired by numerous years of DJing, Nachtmahr is the missing link between merciless and provocative industrial and the hammering power of techno.
The first release, Kunst ist Krieg, and it’s club hit, "BoomBoomBoom", instantly conquered the dancefloors and earned the band a slot on the soundtrack of the American block-buster movie, Saw 4.
Even on the dancefloor, there is room to think about all our daily nightmares.
However, the success of the EP was far surpassed with the release of the full length album,Feuer frei. The club single "Katharsis" dominated the clubs for months, helping the album to stay in the top 10 of the German alternative charts (DAC) for more than 6 weeks. Germany's biggest and most influential dark music magazine, Orkus, even stated Feuer frei was "the new standard for the electro industrial genre".
While others would have rested on their laurels, Nachtmahr extensively toured through North and Central America, Europe, and Russia - including major worldwide festivals like Wave-Gothik-Treffen, Kinetik Festival, and M'era Luna - whilst preparing their second full time assault, Alle Lust will Ewigkeit.
With it, the Austrian Industrial project continued on the uncompromising and relentless path of destruction with their now trademark heavy distorted beats, driving bass lines, and addictive melodies... an album whose might was soon confirmed by No. 1 positions for both single and album in the German alternative charts.
Within three years and with only 2 albums, this adherence to one's principles turned Nachtmahr from a complete newcomer into one of the driving forces of the industrial scene today... and the third full lenght album, Semper Fidelis, will triumph them both to lead the project to even higher ground.
Will you be at Alt-Fest to experience the driving force of Nachtmahr? Of course you will!
