We have specifically structured the ticket prices to encourage early ticket sales so that we can re-invest the income from these earlier sales to increase, grow and improve the line-ups. For example if we sold all of our early discounted tickets, not only do you as the festival goer get a much better value entry price, but we'll be able to book some really kick ass headliners!
We at Alt-Fest have been to many festivals over the years, including some of these horror stories! Basically, we know what to avoid. Our site project management team are highly skilled and experienced festival providers. They not only run their own successful festivals but have also worked with many other festivals. Our on site project management is by Full Fat 360 (link http://www.fullfatevents.com/stuffwevedone.php) and our staging and production will be carried out by SWG Productions (http://www.fullfatevents.com/stuffwevedone.php) who have managed the production side of things at numerous festivals including multiple stages for Glastonbury Festival. You are in VERY safe hands!
First off, don't worry! We at Alt-Fest will be bringing our children too so we fully understand why this question is being asked. On the show side in our full-size big top all the shows before 9pm will be family/child friendly. After 9pm there is a cut-off and all shows will be more adult orientated and feature items potentially unsuitable for minors. We will also be using special wristbands that are electronically coded and they WON'T allow access to these shows for anyone under 18 after 9pm. Likewise any area of the site not deemed suitable for minors will be strictly cordoned off and controlled, with access by the over 18's only. Any teenagers who perhaps look older than they are will have to provide ID to prove their age and will not get an over 18's access area wristband until doing so. This also applies to over 18's that look younger (you lucky youthful people!).
Yes there will. To make this festival the best it can be for everyone going we will have clothing restrictions in all areas EXCEPT for the Over-18's Zone where you can wear whatever you like!
The festival WILL be going ahead -- the only question is to how many more awesome headliners we are going to be signing, which is what we are raising money for now!
To answer your question, the Kickstarter funds would only be released IF the asking amount is raised, and if it wasn't the money would not be releaed to Alt-Fest.
We are now happy to confirm that the asking amount has now been raised, and in fact SMASHED. We are really overwhelmed by the support we've received. Thanks, everyone!
Our site is licensed for up to 50,000 people and for our target /attendance in 2014, we expect over 10,000. However the actual turnout will be greatly affected by the headline acts still to be announced.
So whilst we do have the capacity for up to 50,000 and would be able to manage this size of festival, our expectation year one is a more realistic 10,000+.
Our projected profit and loss Vs budgeting has been set up with a flexible budget based on projected turnouts Vs actual ticket sales. In simple terms this means once we sell 5000 tickets our artist budget will be increased, selling more tickets and so on.
The thing is most of the industrial/EBM bands are European or have European agents and these are slightly more forward thinking than the USA/UK agents who deal with most of the metal acts, we are looking at metal, but for the name metal acts its still too early to book them IE they usually will only discuss a booking 12 or less months away...
Metal is coming!
As well as the eclectic mixed genre main stage having the bigger metal acts we will also have a dedicated metal stage over the 3 days of the festival....
Watch this space for updates on the metal line-ups!
