When in September 2002 Rasc and Gun decided to form Rotersand, they weren't newcomers any more. Both of them could look back on a rich musical past of their own: Gun as a producer and session musician - Rasc as one of the creative Masterminds of the band The Fair Sex. During several album productions for that band, Gun had almost turned into a temporary band member and later on continued to work with Rasc in congenial projects such as 1am and Warm.

In forming Rotersand they were to eventually create their very own gestalt of electronic music: invigorating and contemplative, contemporary yet timeless. And to their own surprise the project effortlessly took off. The energetic, poignant sound of Rotersand instantly caught the audiences' attention when they opened the concerts of the Legends United tour in September 2002. And it was during that tour, they convinced Krischan E. Wesenberg to join them. Rasc and Gun had already observed Krischan's work as a Techno and Electro underground producer for some time.

From the day they joined forces, the band gained further momentum and depth, both on the dance floors and their fans' living rooms - they were a instant match. Their coming from very different musical backgrounds added and even multiplied to a unique musical signature featuring electronic sound aesthetics with brute beats and classic songwriting with intelligent lyrics.

With their first E.P. Merging Oceans, released in Spring 2003, Gun, Rasc and Krischan, received worldwide attention. For several months the band occupied top rankings in the German alternative Charts, the Nordic alternative Charts and the Dutch alternative Charts and the title track "Merging Oceans" went on heavy rotation in clubs and on radio and internet stations around the world. A few months later their first album Truth is fanatic hit like a bombshell and established the band within the German Electro-scene - virtually overnight . In 2005 they released their second album Welcome to Goodbye that stayed Number 1 in the DAC charts for 8 conscutive weeks and gained Rotersand recocnition all over Europe an in the US. The album 1023 - named after a hotel room in Detroit - impressively displayed the musicians' bandwidth and unhindered drive to experiment, while over the years their live shows grew into intoxicating events.

Now, after many successful albums and countless live concerts, Rotersand has created its unmistakable artistic profile from a unique mélange of electro, techno, pop and classical elements that still mirror the different personalities, backgrounds and artistic approaches of its members.
