The Steampunk Experience at Alt-Fest is essentially a micro festival/attraction in its own right. This will be one of the largest outdoor steampunk themed events in the UK showcasing the finest selection of steampunk acts and bands.
There will be a giant marquee, decorated inside and out, so once you cross the threshold, you are instantly transported to another reality of Victorian science fiction splendour. This will be fully floored, to protect the elegance of the attendees, their attire and their composure.
In addition to this there will be a games area and fair rides outside, and a separate market/workshop plus performance stage area inside - and of course a full featured bar selling only the finest Victorian style beverages.
STEAMPUNK ATTRACTIONS & EVENTS
The Grand Steampunk Parade
All the steampunks and steampunk groups are invited to join us on The Grand Steampunk Parade, led by a small brass band, we shall be parading across the site, in our steampunk finery, with a host of flags and banners representing steampunk groups from across the country and beyond.
Stewarded and lead by the members and chairman of the Cottonopolis Coglective.
Market Street
With over 50 stalls of crafts, hat makers, leather workers, tailors, mod specialists and more!
Sure to rival any steampunk market ever held.
Tea Duelling
Throughout the event, Tea duels will take place using “street rules” so whilst actual contact is not allowed, barricking and slating “all in the best possible taste” is allowed.
Registration forms will be available nearer the time of the event.
With great prizes, and a showcase final - all are welcome to register for the challenge.
Photo Booth
With a team of professional photographers and a full green screen room - attendee’s will be able to have the day captured forever, and placed in a variety of steampunk settings, limited only by imagination.
Clockwork Races
Throughout the weekend, there will be heats, and a grand final racing Clockwork Mice 4 at a time, on a purpose built track. With fantastic prizes for the winners!
Workshop
With Workshops for everything from leather work, tailoring, dance, nerf gun mods and much more throughout the weekend.
Nerf Dueling Competition
Again throughout the weekend, there will be heats and a grand final with wonderful Prizes, for the best Duelist.
Rules and registration form will follow closer to the event, but no electric of repeater guns and no hard projectiles! This is a one shot from 10 paces gentlemans (or Ladies) duel!
Games Area
With everything from croquet to skittles and horseshoes, a wonderful celebration of our old English pubs and garden games.
Fairground
With a small selection of traditional fair rides of a gentle nature carousels and merry-go-rounds.
Panels
There will be a number of Q+A Panels as part of the daytime entertainment Hosted by Legends of the Steampunk Community from Writers to film makers, engineers and all thing steampunky.
Fashion & Awards Show
The highlight of Saturday afternoon! Nomination and voting will commence nearer the date of the destival. With categories to include:
Best dressed Steampunk
Best goggles
Best steampunk contraption
Best steampunk book of the year
Best steampunk song of the year
Best steampunk video of the year
And person who has done the most to promote steampunk in the last year
